Australian Consumer Rights
Last updated: July 2026
At SUNVANTA, we are committed to providing high-quality outdoor living products and a transparent shopping experience for customers across Australia.
When you purchase products from SUNVANTA, you are protected by the rights and guarantees provided under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).
These consumer rights apply in addition to any warranty, return policy, or after-sales support provided by SUNVANTA.
Nothing in our policies limits, excludes, or replaces your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
Your Consumer Guarantees Under Australian Consumer Law
Under Australian Consumer Law, products sold in Australia come with automatic consumer guarantees.
This means products purchased from SUNVANTA must:
- Be of acceptable quality
- Be safe, durable, and free from major defects
- Match the description, images, and specifications provided
- Be fit for any purpose that we have represented
- Meet reasonable expectations based on the product information provided
If a product does not meet these guarantees, customers may be entitled to an appropriate remedy.
Remedies for Products That Do Not Meet Consumer Guarantees
The type of remedy available depends on whether the issue is considered a major failure or a minor failure.
Major Failure
A product may have a major failure if:
- It would not have been purchased if the issue had been known
- It is significantly different from the description provided
- It is unsafe
- It cannot be used for its intended purpose
- The issue cannot reasonably be fixed within a reasonable timeframe
For a major failure, customers may be entitled to choose between:
- A refund
- A replacement product
Customers may also be entitled to compensation for reasonably foreseeable loss or damage where applicable.
Minor Failure
A product may have a minor failure if the issue does not amount to a major failure.
In these situations, SUNVANTA may provide an appropriate remedy, which may include:
- Repair assistance
- Replacement parts
- Product replacement
- Another suitable solution depending on the circumstances
SUNVANTA will assess each situation individually and provide a remedy in accordance with Australian Consumer Law.
Product Quality & Durability
SUNVANTA designs and supplies outdoor living products intended for residential use, including:
- Outdoor umbrellas and shade products
- Gazebos and outdoor structures
- Patio furniture
- Garden tools and accessories
- Other outdoor lifestyle products
We work with manufacturing partners to maintain product quality standards and provide products that are suitable for normal residential outdoor use.
However, outdoor products are exposed to natural environmental conditions. Product performance and lifespan may vary depending on:
- Installation method
- Frequency of use
- Maintenance and care
- Weather exposure
- Storage conditions
- Local environmental conditions
Customers should follow all product instructions and care recommendations to maintain product performance.
What Is Not Considered a Consumer Guarantee Failure
Australian Consumer Law does not generally cover issues caused by:
- Incorrect installation
- Incorrect assembly
- Misuse or accidental damage
- Failure to follow care instructions
- Normal wear and tear
- Damage caused by extreme weather conditions
- Unauthorised modifications or repairs
For outdoor products, customers should take reasonable precautions during severe weather conditions.
For example:
- Outdoor umbrellas should be closed and secured during strong winds
- Outdoor structures should be installed according to provided instructions
- Movable outdoor products should be stored or protected when exposed to extreme conditions
These situations do not remove any rights customers may have under Australian Consumer Law.
